Lexi Rummel (they/them) is Counsel for Health Equity and Justice for the Reproductive Rights and Health Team. Lexi works on state health equity issues including sex education, insurance coverage of fertility care, and gender-affirming care. Their portfolio of work also includes highlighting how state bans and restrictions on abortion care impact people’s access to other types of health care.
Prior to joining NWLC, Lexi was an Associate in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice group at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where they advised clients on a range of regulatory, compliance, and transactional matters, including matters related to food and drug law, Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement, privacy and data security issues, and clinical trials. Lexi conducted state and federal law research and worked directly with key stakeholders in the health and life sciences sector. Lexi’s work also included analyzing connections between firm practice areas, including the relationship between environmental conditions, such as climate change, on health outcomes.
Lexi received their J.D. magna cum laude from Tulane University Law School, where they were awarded Order of the Coif. During law school, Lexi was a managing editor of the Tulane Law Review, a law clerk at the Tulane Legal Assistance Program, a Pro Bono Scholar at Akin Gump, a Holley Law Fellow at the National LGBTQ Task Force, and an extern with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. They earned their B.S. magna cum laude in psychology from Tulane University, where they served as an intern with Tulane University’s Title IX Office.
