National Women’s Law Center (“NWLC”) has created this Privacy Policy to explain why it collects particular information and how it will protect your personal privacy within its web sites (“Sites”), including,,,, and The following discloses NWLC’s information gathering and dissemination practices for the Sites.

Because NWLC is committed to your privacy, this Privacy Policy notifies you of:

What Information NWLC Collects and How It Uses That Information:

NWLC’s registration forms for its advocacy network, to purchase NWLC materials, or to donate to NWLC require you to give it contact information that may include name, email address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and similar information. NWLC may also obtain information regarding your use of the Sites and their offerings. NWLC uses this information to fulfill your requests with respect to NWLC’s offerings, support the activities of NWLC and improve its Sites and offerings. If you sign up for the advocacy network, NWLC may from time to time use your e-mail address to contact you regarding NWLC and issues and activities of likely interest to you. NWLC does not share or sell its lists of contacts gathered online or lists of donors who have given online or offline with other organizations, except, in certain instances, with NWLC’s affiliated organization, the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund, and third-party vendors as described below. From time to time, NWLC may send you materials by U.S. Postal Service mail when it thinks they may be of interest you. NWLC on occasion uses third-party vendors to provide services to its Sites or to NWLC. These services can include processing credit card transactions, fulfillment of merchandise requests, or facilitating fundraising campaigns. Information you provide on NWLC’s Sites may be provided to these vendors on a confidential basis solely for the purpose of providing these services


If you elect to use NWLC’s referral service for informing a friend about NWLC’s Sites, NWLC asks that you provide the friend’s name and email address. NWLC will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting her or him to visit the Site(s). NWLC does not store this information beyond the time it takes to send this one-time email.

Share Your Story:

If you elect to use NWLC’s Site(s) to share a personal story and/or photos, NWLC reserves the right to edit your story and post it on the Site(s) at its discretion. By submitting a story to NWLC, you consent to its editing, posting and other use on behalf of NWLC’s goals and activities. You also agree to comply with NWLC’s Terms of Use.

Internet Protocol Address:

NWLC collects an IP address from all visitors to its Sites. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. NWLC use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with its server, administer its Sites, analyze trends, track users’ movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for NWLC to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Use of “Cookies”:

NWLC’s Sites may use cookies to enhance your experience while using its Sites. Cookies are pieces of information that some web sites transfer to the computer that is browsing that web site and are used for record-keeping purposes at many web sites. Use of cookies makes web-surfing easier by performing certain functions such as saving your passwords, your personal preferences regarding your use of the particular web site and to make sure you don’t see the same ad repeatedly. Many consider the use of cookies to be an industry standard.

All credit card information provided to NWLC is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to NWLC. NWLC also protects account information by placing it on a secure portion of NWLC’s web site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of NWLC. Credit card information provided will only be used to fulfill your requests. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While NWLC strives to protect your information, it cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.
