Help Us Fight Back Against Efforts to Roll Back Gender Justice

Extremist judges will not stop endangering the lives of pregnant people or people who may become pregnant—overturning Roe v. Wade, attacking medication abortion, threatening the future of IVF, and this week at SCOTUS, emergency abortion care.

Our lawyers are waging strategic fights that make clear what is at stake for people who can become pregnant and seek to bolster our fundamental rights to control our lives, futures, and destinies.

Make a donation to the National Women’s Law Center to power the fight for accessible health care and a better future for all. Every donation is 100% tax-deductible.

Join the Leadership Advisory Committee

The National Women’s Law Center’s Leadership Advisory Committee (LAC) is a high-level advisory committee of talented lawyers designed to provide the Law Center with advice and support on critical issues that affect women and their families. Members of the committee act as goodwill ambassadors for NWLC and our gender justice mission.

Often considered by employers as an investment in both the Law Center’s mission as well as their top-tier talent, LAC members are nominated by entities that provide annual support of $15,000 or more to the Law Center. LAC membership is renewed on an annual basis.

For more information on how you or your organization can join the Leadership Advisory Committee Member, please contact Emily Phipps, Manager of External Affairs, at [email protected] or 202-319-3046.

Provide Pro Bono Support

The victories the National Women’s Law Center has won on behalf of women and their families would not have been possible without the pro bono assistance that many organizations and individuals generously provide.

NWLC depends upon pro bono and volunteer assistance from law firms, corporations, universities, and individuals. If you or your organization are interested in exploring pro bono opportunities, please complete this pro bono survey, to help us understand the applicable skills, expertise, and interest areas. Promotional Partnerships

Collaboration with and support from the business community is important to the National Women’s Law Center’s fight for gender justice. If your business or organization is interested in learning more about partnering with the National Women’s Law Center through a fundraiser or promotion, please complete the Partnership Inquiry Form with as much detail as possible. Upon completion of the form, a member of the National Women’s Law Center staff will contact you within seven business days to continue the partnership conversation.

Due to the volume of partnership inquiries, we are not able to support and promote every program that comes to us. Therefore, please refer to the established criteria in the form that will help ensure your proposed partnerships are in line with our mission and partnership capacities. If you have any questions about the partnership inquiries form, please contact Asma Akram, External Affairs Associate, at [email protected].

Designate NWLC for Cy Pres Award

Cy pres is the legal doctrine that allows funds remaining after the distribution of a class action settlement to be given to a charitable organization (or more than one) whose mission dovetails with the original purpose of the case. Cy pres awards are an important source of funding for nonprofits and legal services, nurturing the growth of legal nonprofits serving marginalized communities.

Under the cy pres doctrine, courts can distribute these residual funds to appropriate charitable causes. While every case is different, individual counsel may nominate nonprofit organizations whose missions reflect the concerns of the case to receive unclaimed funds. In the event that cy pres funds are deemed appropriate for the National Women’s Law Center, our staff is available to assist in drafting the affidavit or letter to the court, making the case for the National Women’s Law Center to be designated a recipient.

If you have any questions about whether the National Women’s Law Center might be an appropriate cy pres recipient in a particular case, please contact Jenn Bixler, Director of External Affairs, at [email protected].
