Kiara Pesante Haughton (she/her) is an award-winning communications and political strategist and justice advocate. She is currently the Vice President of Campaigns and Communications, leading the press and media relations strategy, digital and social media, partnerships, coalitions, and influence campaigns work for the Law Center and the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund. Previously, she was the Chief of Communications and Advancement at DÄ“mos, the pioneering democracy think tank focused on racial justice. She has also served in leadership positions at BerlinRosen, Civil Rights Corps, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and Labor, and in various roles at the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic National Convention, D.C. Government, Edelman Public Relations, the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, and WSB-TV in Atlanta. She has been named one of the most powerful Black Americans by EBONY Magazine.Â
A dedicated servant leader, Pesante Haughton is a founding Board Member of the Arika Trim Foundation, an organization that supports Black mothers through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with access to doula care and connection to community resources. She is an Ambassador for the Greater DC Diaper Bank, a supporter of food and resource access center Martha’s Table, and Thrive DC, a direct-services support organization for unhoused community members. She is a proud Mother Member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc, where she currently serves on the executive board of the Nation’s Captial Chapter.Â
Pesante Haughton was born and co-raised in Brooklyn, New York, and has roots in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and Puerto Rico. She lives in Southeast Washington with her husband and their two young daughters.Â
