Donya Khadem (she/her) is a Litigation Fellow for Reproductive Rights and Health at the National Women’s Law Center. Before joining NWLC, Ms. Khadem was an associate at Kaplan Hecker & Fink, where she was part of the trial team that successfully represented E. Jean Carroll in her sexual assault and defamation suit against Donald Trump. During her time at Kaplan Hecker, she was also a teaching assistant for the Civil Rights Clinic at Howard University School of Law. Previously, she was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable R. Guy Cole, Jr., on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the Honorable Matthew Leitman on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Ms. Khadem graduated with honors from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was an Articles Editor of the Michigan Law Review, a student attorney with the Civil-Criminal Litigation Clinic and the Workers’ Rights Clinic, and an intern with the ACLU of Michigan and Loevy & Loevy, a civil rights firm in Chicago. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Political Science and Legal Studies. Before law school, she worked in the immigrants’ rights space at the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and as a political appointee in President Obama’s administration.
Ms. Khadem is a member of the bar of the District of Columbia and is admitted to practice in several federal courts.
