According to a nationally representative survey conducted by the Center for American Progress (CAP) in 2017, many LGBTQ women and their families participate in Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps), and public housing assistance. Despite their vital role in increasing economic security, these programs have been under attack. In 2019, state and federal governments should shift to proactive policies that support LGBTQ women’s economic security.
