(Washington, D.C.) This afternoon, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley announced that confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will begin on September 4. The hearings are expected to last only three or four days.
The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center:
“This schedule is outrageous and an insult to the American people. What are some Senators trying to hide by ramming through the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court before even a fraction of his record is made available? We see through this sham and call on the Senate to delay the hearings to allow for a thorough review of his record. There’s far too much at stake for the entire country to accept anything less.”
