NWLC Celebrates Senate Confirmation of Reproductive Rights Lawyer Julie Rikelman to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit

The following is a statement by Erinn D. Martin, Director of Nominations & Cross-Cutting Policies at the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):

“We are elated to celebrate the confirmation of Julie Rikelman – a renowned reproductive rights litigator who has extensive experience and a deep commitment to the rule of law– and now becomes the first Jewish and immigrant woman to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Rikelman notably defended our fundamental right to abortion before the Supreme Court in the Dobbs case decided just a year ago this week. We commend President Biden, Majority Leader Schumer and Senate Judiciary Chair Durbin for their commitment to appointing and confirming fair and impartial judges with civil rights experience to reshape our judiciary.”
