What’s at Stake Today

Every woman, no matter where she lives, should have access to abortion when she needs it. But because of all the restrictive laws passed by state politicians, a woman’s ability to access abortion often depends on her zip code. And some politicians in Congress want to pass restrictions on abortion nationwide.

What Is NWLC Doing?

Anti-abortion politicians in the states are creating a patchwork of laws that make the ability to get an abortion subject to where you live. And some politicians in Congress are trying to limit abortion nationwide. But when lawmakers in Congress and in the states try to restrict abortion, we fight back.

We work to defeat proposed laws, like unconstitutional bans on abortion, bans on private and public insurance coverage of abortion, and the frequent attempts to regulate abortion providers out of existence. We also push proactive policies that help women access abortion, protect their health, and make the best decision for them and their families.

And we weigh in with courts to ensure that the promise of Roe v. Wade remains a reality for every woman in this country.

Because all these politicians’ proposals add up to the same design: they’re trying to prevent women from being able to get an abortion. A woman’s health, not politics, should drive important medical decisions.
