NWLC Applauds the Confirmation of Vanita Gupta as Associate Attorney General

(Washington, D.C.) The following is a statement from Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center:

“Our hearts are still healing and heavy with the painful truth of a seemingly endless cycle of harm to Black and brown bodies in this country. It is against the backdrop of this historic challenge that Vanita Gupta is confirmed to be the Associate Attorney General of the Department of Justice, the first civil rights leader to hold this role. Vanita has built her career fighting for civil rights and advancing justice for the most vulnerable people in our country. We are confident that she will lead with a clear vision for a more equitable and fair future. We celebrate her historic confirmation as the first South Asian woman to ever hold this vital position, and we know she will bring a lifetime of experience defending our Constitution, uprooting systemic racism, supporting survivors, and speaking on behalf of the silenced and erased.  We look forward to working with her and her team to make justice a reality.”
