NWLC Responds to the Passing of Dolores Huerta

WASHINGTON — Upon learning about the death of Dolores Huerta, National Women’s Law Center CEO and President Fatima Goss Graves issued the following statement:

“Dolores Huerta leaves behind an extraordinary legacy and we are heartbroken by her passing. She co-founded and led a monumental labor rights movement that transformed the lives of farmworkers and spent decades organizing and advocating for the dignity and fair treatment of all working people. Her courage, tenacity and lifelong commitment to justice and equality have left an indelible mark on our country.

Huerta showed extreme bravery and fortitude, even toward the end of her life when she powerfully reminded everyone that every survivor should be heard, believed and supported.

We hope to honor Dolores Huerta by continuing the work of achieving justice for all and supporting workers across every community. Her rallying cry, Sí, se puede, captured her unwavering belief that nothing is impossible and that collective action can change lives.”
