NWLC Reacts to Senate Passage of Second Coronavirus Stimulus
The following is a statement from Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center:
“This bill is a critical first move to responding to this crisis, and its passage will save lives and provide immediate economic relief to many of our neighbors struggling with the growing ripple effects of the virus. But once this bill is signed, Congress must return to Washington and fill the gaps left wide open by the Trump administration. The paid sick leave exemptions in this bill are wholly inadequate for most workers to keep themselves, their family members, and their communities safe and healthy. Congress must also act to support child care, health care, and other frontline workers. Low-income families cannot afford to foot the bill for this administration’s delays and incompetence, and leaving them behind would be inadequate at best and dangerous at worst.”
