NWLC Reacts to a Court Decision That Calls the Affordable Care Act Unconstitutional
The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s law Center (NWLC):
“Yesterday’s court ruling is reckless. It unfortunately will sow confusion—coming on the eve of the deadline for people to sign up for coverage for 2019—and it’s a horrifying example of judicial overreach. If enacted, it would demolish a law that millions of people across the country—especially women and those with pre-existing conditions—count on to protect their health and lives. Fortunately, this judge does not have the final word. We refuse to return to the days when being a woman was a pre-existing condition. The Affordable Care Act is the law of the land and it must remain.”
