Washington, D.C. – In response to the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) release of the final rule on “Reproductive Health Services,” Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) issued the following statement:
“Access to abortion is necessary for the health and safety of veterans – and for all people – to determine their futures. We’re thrilled that VA has taken this critical action for veterans seeking abortion care and counseling. At a time when extremists are cruelly attacking reproductive rights across the nation, safeguarding access to abortion care for veterans and their loved ones is paramount. Our policymakers should be protecting our rights, not trying to strip them away. NWLC strongly commends VA for its commitment to protecting the health and well-being of veterans in the face of this ongoing crisis.”
