Time Is Running Out: Don’t Miss Out on Tax Credits!

Tax Credits homepageThere are only a couple of weeks left until April 18, when federal and (most) state tax returns are due. Make sure the families you work with have the information they need:

  1. Information about the valuable state and federal tax credits for which they may be eligible (in English, Spanish, and, for some states, in Mandarin Chinese and Vietnamese).
  2. Information about where they can get free tax preparation assistance — and what documents to bring. This is especially important because VITA sites generally stop taking appointments at the beginning of April.
  3. Information for groups with specific tax issues — like LGBT filers, survivors of domestic violence, and immigrant families.

And if families need more time to file their taxes, there’s more information available.
