Our Lawsuit

In 2017, the Trump-Pence administration introduced two harmful and discriminatory rules to allow virtually any employer or university claiming a religious or moral objection to deny birth control coverage to employees and students. At the same time, behind closed doors, the administration has been entering into unlawful settlement agreements with employers and universities to allow them to take away birth control coverage. The University of Notre Dame entered into one of these settlement agreements, and its students and employees have been without no-cost coverage of the full range of birth control since 2018. On behalf of student group Irish 4 Reproductive Health, we’re suing both the University of Notre Dame and the Trump-Pence administration over these unlawful, dangerous rules and the back-door settlement agreement.
