NWLC Reacts to McDonald’s Announcement of Training Program to Address Sexual Harassment

The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):

“McDonald’s track record on tackling sexual harassment is atrocious. For years, the company has refused to meet with its workers who experienced sexual harassment on the job and address the rampant abuse that takes place every day in its restaurants. Now, because of the courageous workers who have come forward to demand change, McDonald’s has finally realized that doing nothing is no longer an option. It has announced a harassment training program, a step that comes because of the power and courage of the workers. But that alone won’t solve the problem. If McDonald’s is serious about combating sexual harassment, today’s announcement is not enough. To make real change, the company must do the hard work: engage with its workers, listen to their stories, and, together with them, craft real solutions.  The answers are there, if only McDonald’s is willing to listen and learn.”
