WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) released a statement ahead of the expected confirmation vote of Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, Todd Blanche, for Attorney General.

“During his confirmation hearing and his recent closed-door conversation with faith leaders, Todd Blanche asserted that he is willing to trade away the rights of women and girls in exchange for power,” said Alison Gill, NWLC’s senior director of nominations and democracy. “Someone who is willing to bargain away our rights to appease anti-abortion extremists is unfit to serve our country as Attorney General.

“As Attorney General, Blanche promised to use his power to limit access to mifepristone, an incredibly safe and effective medication used in the majority of abortions in the United States. Pregnant people, especially those in states with full abortion bans, will be at greater risk of being denied basic and essential care.”

In his current role as acting Attorney General, Blanche worked to stop the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) enforcement of the which makes it unlawful to use physical force, threats, or violence to intentionally block or intimidate someone from getting or providing reproductive health care. Last week, the DOJ paid more than $1 million as part of its so-called “anti-weaponization” slush fund to an anti-abortion extremists who violated the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE) Act. The payout comes after the administration, including Todd Blanche, has repeatedly claimed the fund is dead.

On July 6, 2026, NWLC submitted a letter of opposition to the nomination of Todd Blanche as Attorney General.
