Women and Families Deserve More Than Policies That Don’t Deliver What happens when the “village” it takes to raise a child never shows up?

“Everybody is going to need care at some point in their life,” says Melissa Boteach, Vice President of Child Care and Income Security at the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC). “We’ve taken this universal experience and somehow made it private and undervalued and made everyone think it’s their fault that they just can’t figure it out. When in reality, families are fundamentally lacking the support and public investments that they need to be able to be stable and be able to take care of their families.”
