One in Six Latinas and One in Five Black, Non-Hispanic Women Don’t Have Enough to Eat

This factsheet provides an analysis of week 16 of the U.S. Census Bureau Household Pulse Survey measuring the social and economic impact of COVID-19 on households. The data shows that, in an average week since the start of the survey, about 24.7 million people – or more than 1 in 10 – reported not having enough food to eat in the prior 7 days. Rates of food insufficiency were even higher for Black, non-Hispanic women and Latinas over the full survey period.
