NWLC submitted a comment in support of the Social Security Administration (SSA)’s proposed rule expanding the Rental Subsidy Policy for SSI Recipients. The comment highlighted the importance of SSI to women. NWLC’s comment also asserted that the proposed rule change would, in many cases, prevent already-modest SSI benefits from being reduced when a recipient is provided help with housing, and would make SSI simpler and more equitable.
