As a second Trump administration approaches, we’re running out of time to confirm as many federal judges as possible to provide a check on his presidential power and curb his stated policy priorities.
On June 27, 2024, NWLC and GLSEN led a letter from 70 gender justice and civil rights organizations to K12 and higher education administrators urging swift implementation of policies consistent with Biden administration’s new Title IX rule by the deadline of August 1, 2024. The letter reminds administrators that Title IX preempts any conflicting state or local policy, and an institution’s failure to comply with federal nondiscrimination law could jeopardize access to federal funding. In addition, despite pending litigation, all schools should still work towards implementation by August 1 because an injunction could be lifted or stayed by an appellate court at any time.
