NWLC Reacts to President Trump’s Budget Plan

The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):

“President Trump’s budget proposal makes one thing appallingly clear: his priorities lie with the rich and powerful – and not with families and women. It would gut access to health care and health insurance that keeps women and their families healthy and economically secure. It aims to kick people across the country when they are down, proposing to take away food, health care, and shelter when workers can’t secure or maintain enough hours at work. It sustains oppressive caps on the part of the budget that funds priorities such as child care, public education, and affordable housing. And once again, Trump attempts an end run around Congress and the American people to fund his racist wall. This budget shows exactly where this administration’s moral compass points—away from job growth, raised wages, and health care access, and directly into the pockets of the wealthiest. Our country cannot stand for this blatant attack on families, women, children, and our communities.”
