“Turning its back on science, medicine, and the overwhelming weight of federal court precedents, the Trump Administration is preparing to institute a “show us your papers” rule for gender, insisting that gender is irrevocably dictated by birth certificates and genetic testing. This extremist effort would usher in a new era of gender policing, which would impose irreparable harm on trans people, as well as threaten the rights of any woman or girl who does not conform to traditional gender stereotypes. With this initiative, the Trump Administration seeks to legally erase trans people. Fear and ignorance have no place in determining national policy, and we must all come together to ensure that this initiative will not succeed.”
