As a second Trump administration approaches, we’re running out of time to confirm as many federal judges as possible to provide a check on his presidential power and curb his stated policy priorities.
NWLC Reacts to R. Kelly’s Guilty Verdict
The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):
“Today, Black survivors realized some measure of justice with the conviction of R. Kelly. Thanks to their unending courage, Kelly’s decades long predation against young Black girls and women that had flourished in plain sight finally came closer to an end. The verdict brings a margin of visibility for Black survivors in this country, whose lived experiences and struggles have been too often erased from sexual misconduct narratives—and whose abusers have routinely escaped accountability. We are grateful to those who came forward, to the Black women who ensured their experiences would not be forgotten, and deeply hope that the next phase begins a process of healing they so deserve.”
