NWLC Reacts to New Sex Crime Charge Against Harvey Weinstein

The following is a statement by Jennifer Mondino, senior director of the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund:

(Washington, D.C.) “Today’s arraignment was a stark reminder of the bravery of the Silence Breakers — the women who came forward at great personal risk to detail the sexual abuse they experienced at the hands of Harvey Weinstein. Because of them, Weinstein’s serial predation finally came to light, and he remains an imprisoned felon. We’re also reminded that the reversal of Weinstein’s New York conviction five months ago should never have happened and that the law often fails survivors. Even when sexual predators are convicted, survivors are left to endure the lasting impacts of destroyed careers and years of trauma. We must do a better job at protecting survivors, whether or not their abusers are ultimately held accountable.”
