NWLC Reacts to Labor Department Notice That It Will Ignore EEO-1 Pay Data
(Washington, DC) Today the Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) announced its decision to ignore EEO-1 pay data in its enforcement of nondiscrimination provisions for federal contractors, effective immediately. The EEO-1 pay data collection, currently underway, is the first of its kind, collecting information about employees from all employers with at least 100 employees by job category, race, gender, and ethnicity.
The following is a statement from Emily Martin, Vice President for Education & Workplace Justice:
“By deciding to ignore the EEO-1 pay data before the historic collection of this data has even been completed, the Trump Administration makes it clear that its priority is protecting employers from scrutiny rather than enforcing pay discrimination laws. This is a willful head-in-the-sand approach that overwhelmingly impacts women—particularly women of color—who deserve much more.”
