NWLC Applauds VA for Critical Action on Abortion
The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):
“Today, we celebrate the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) taking action to ensure veterans can get the abortion care they need and deserve. All veterans should have the freedom to control their own bodies, yet they face unique challenges in accessing abortion, especially now as extremist lawmakers decimate abortion access across the country following the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Recognizing these challenges, VA’s rule has eliminated key barriers to this critical health care. Access to abortion is necessary for the health and safety of veterans – and for all people to determine their futures. We applaud VA for moving to protect peoples’ freedom to make these important decisions.”
