SCOTUS Poised to Reopen Case From Woman Claiming Employer Discriminated Against Her For Being Straight

Breaking with those briefs was one filed jointly last month by a coalition of civil rights groups — the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, LatinoJusticePRLDEF, the National Women’s Law Center, the National Employment Law Project, the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, and the Equal Justice Society — in favor of the Ohio department. That brief allows that the Sixth Circuit may have applied too rigid a standard, but argues that Ames would not have won on the merits of her case even if it had gone forward, and asks the Court to not revisit its previous, broader rulings on Title VII.
