Transparency, Democracy, and Trump’s Taxes

President Trump’s refusal to disclose his tax returns breaks with decades of precedent and leaves the American people in the dark about his potential business ties with foreign adversaries like Russia and how his Administration’s policies might benefit his bottom line at the expense of the rest of us. That’s why a grassroots movement is fighting back and defending our country’s basic democratic principles of transparency and accountability. On April 15, thousands of Americans will march in Washington, D.C. and more than 130 communities across the country to demand that Trump immediately release his tax returns and drop his plan to slash taxes for billionaires and corporations.
The Tax March in Washington, D.C., will begin at noon with a rally outside the U.S. Capitol before proceeding past the Trump International Hotel — a living embodiment of one of Trump’s biggest conflicts of interests — and the IRS building. Speakers at the rally will include Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California, DEMOS President Heather McGhee, NETWORK Executive Director Sister Simone Campbell, PICO National Network Political Director Bishop Dwayne Royster, and Rabbi Nehama Benmosche of Machar: The Washington Congregation for Secular Humanistic Judaism.
