NWLC Responds to Hearing for Brittany Panuccio Nomination
WASHINGTON, DC (July 16, 2025) — Today, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions held a hearing on several of President Trump’s nominees, including Brittany Panuccio. Panuccio is nominated to serve as a commissioner at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency charged with enforcing workers’ civil rights.
The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) Action Fund has authored a letter, joined by more than 45 civil rights and workers’ rights organizations, calling for the Committee to reject Panuccio’s nomination (Civil and Workers’ Rights Organizations Oppose Confirmation of Brittany Panuccio to the EEOC – National Women’s Law Center).
The following is a statement by Lauren Khouri, NWLC’s Senior Director of Workplace Equality and Senior Counsel:
“Today’s hearing reaffirmed that Panuccio intends to serve as a rubber stamp for Trump’s anti-worker agenda. With the recent budget bill, Republicans have made it harder for people across the country to put food on the table, access health care, and make ends meet. By greenlighting the Trump agenda, Panuccio’s confirmation would make it even harder for people—especially women, people of color, and LGBTQI+ people—to access job opportunities free from discrimination and harassment.
“The stakes are too high to hand someone so unqualified the power to make decisions that directly impact workers’ ability to make a living. The HELP committee must send a clear message that workers deserve better by rejecting Panuccio’s nomination.”
