Tanya Clarke, CPA, CGMA (she/her) is the Vice President for Finance and leads the financial functions for NWLC and its affiliates. Ms. Clarke oversees all budgeting, financial reporting, and fiscal management activities, and collaborates closely with our external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations. Prior to this role, Ms. Clarke served as the Controller for the Law Center. Tanya brings over 24 years of experience in fiscal management, auditing, internal controls and compliance, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, risk management, and systems implementation and administration. Â
Before joining NWLC, Ms. Clarke was the outsourced CFO and Controller for Vault Consulting and provided full cycle accounting and strategic fiscal management services to advocacy and social justice non-for-profit clients. Ms. Clarke also worked for Catholic Charities of D.C. in a new role as Director of Budgeting and Reporting, overseeing an operating budget of over $100 million.Â
Ms. Clarke spent the first 10 years of her career working for Big Four public accounting firms, KPMG, Ernst & Young and Pricewaterhouse Coopers where she specialized in annual audits of publicly traded companies and other clients in the alternative investment, capital banking and real estate space. She later joined a smaller CPA firm, Matthews, Carter, and Boyce, and continued her focus in the alternative investment industry. Â
Ms. Clarke received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from University of the West Indies, Barbados and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Virginia Society of CPAs, Greater Washington Society of CPAs, and a fellow member of the Association of Charted Certified Accountants (FCCA) of the United Kingdom.
