Board Member

Partner, Morrison Foerster

Daralyn Durie is one of the nation’s preeminent trial lawyers with significant experience litigating high-stakes disputes on behalf of leading innovators in the technology and life sciences sectors. Daralyn draws on decades of experience serving as lead counsel in complex matters and securing successful outcomes in major litigation. Her recent notable wins include securing a defense verdict for Aptiv in a hotly contested patent case and scoring three back-to-back wins in the first post-COVID in-person jury trials. Daralyn acts as go-to trial counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants. She has obtained a plaintiff-side jury verdict of $178 million in a patent infringement case involving melanoma therapy, and she has led the enforcement of Genentech’s Cabilly family of patents, which generated billions of dollars in licensing revenue. Daralyn has also won defense verdicts in major cases involving copyright or trademark infringement claims for Google, Redbubble, and Activision Blizzard.

Daralyn’s track record has resulted in numerous, consistent recognitions from leading national publications. Daralyn was named among the top 10 intellectual property lawyers in the United States by Chambers, which reports that she is “out-of-this-world good. She has great instincts, is a great thinker and is just phenomenal.” She was also selected by Law360 as an Icon of IP and MVP, and she was listed as a top lawyer in California and across the United States by Benchmark Litigation, Daily Journal, and Super Lawyers in areas including trial, patent litigation, and intellectual property. Benchmark Litigation reports that “going against her was like going against a boxer in which you know you’re going to get hurt.”

Daralyn earned her J.D. from Berkeley Law. Following law school, Daralyn clerked for the Honorable Douglas Ginsburg on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She then began work at a boutique law firm as an associate and became a partner of the firm in January 1999. In 2009, Daralyn co-founded Durie Tangri, a premier litigation boutique firm acquired by Morrison Foerster in 2022.

Daralyn is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a board member of the National Women’s Law Center, a past president of the Board of Directors of the Northern California Association of Business Trial Lawyers, a former co-chair of the Lawyer Representatives to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, and a court‑appointed Early Neutral Evaluator for the Northern District of California. She has testified before the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, speaks frequently on intellectual property issues, and is a co-author of a two-volume practice guide on California civil trials.
