Today the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund led more than 130 national, state, local, and tribal civil rights and education organizations, including the NAACP, ACLU, DREDF, JCPA, HRC, and PFLAG, sent a letter to Congressional appropriators calling on them to STOP the illegal and wrong-headed transfer of civil rights enforcement from the Department of Education to the Department of Justice. The groups write, “It is clear that this attempt to “move” enforcement is just another effort to eliminate protections and deprive students of urgently needed support.
