The National Women’s Law Center currently represents two young alumni of Pennridge High School in Pennsylvania in federal law suits related to the school’s failure to respond to reports of sex-based harassment. On March 6, 2018, Magistrate Judge Timothy Rice of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania refused the Defendants’ motion to dismiss Title IX and constitutional claims brought by one of our clients, DarbiAnne Goodwin. In his opinion, Judge Rice held that Miss Goodwin had adequately pled that the school district and its leadership had a “custom or practice” of failing to address harassment complaints and failed to train its staff adequately.
