President Trump banned abortion care for veterans and their loved ones who get care through the VA, unless the pregnant person is on the brink of death. Tell Congress to restore abortion access for veterans now.
Veterans’ Abortion Access Is on the Line
We filed a lawsuit alongside Democracy Forward and our law firm partner, Morrison & Foerster, on behalf of Minority Veterans of America (MVA) to challenge the Trump-Vance Administration’s ban on abortion care and counseling in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We’re fighting to overturn this dangerous ban to protect veterans’ health.
In December 2025, the Trump administration quietly implemented the most extreme abortion ban among all of the federal programs. This new policy denies care for veterans, even in cases of rape, incest, or pregnancies that pose a serious health risk, and applies nationwide regardless of the state law around abortion access.

This ban is already harming veterans. One MVA member who is pregnant, living with chronic health conditions, and has a long history of pregnancy complications, can no longer access abortion care at VA or even receive counseling from VA providers about all of her pregnancy options. Under this policy, VA doctors cannot provide abortion care unless her life is in danger.
Meanwhile, federal lawmakers have introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the Trump administration’s cruel ban and reinstate abortion access for veterans. We need Congress to protect veterans by passing the CRA resolution and preserving veterans’ access to essential health care.
Veterans fought for our freedoms. Now we must fight for theirs. Tell your senator to vote YES on the CRA resolution to protect veterans’ health and abortion access.

Washington, DC – Minority Veterans of America (MVA), represented by the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) and Democracy Forward, is suing the Trump-Vance administration over its ban on abortion care and counseling at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The ban reverses VA’s expansion of abortion care access in 2022 and applies even in cases of rape, incest, or serious health risks for the pregnant person.
