NWLC Responds to Verdict in Weinstein Retrial

(June 11, 2025) — Today, after a New York jury returned a mixed verdict on Harvey Weinstein that included a conviction on a sex crime charge, Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) and co-founder of the TIME’S Up Legal Defense Fund, released the following statement in response:

“We are grateful to the Silence Breakers — the courageous women who came forward at great personal risk to tell their stories of sexual abuse — for their perseverance, resiliency, and insistence that Harvey Weinstein be held accountable. We hope that today’s decision provides them with a measure of justice and accountability.

“That a jury has again convicted Weinstein reaffirms he is a sexual abuser who illegally exploited his power for decades. We are reminded today that a single well-known case does not define this movement and our collective fight. The strength of survivors is a force to be reckoned with, and we will always be greater than those who seek to exert power over us.”
