“Dr. Blasey Ford’s courageous testimony today was clear, compelling, and deeply credible. Senators today must make a choice: to hide behind partisan politics and half-truths, or to affirm the experiences of sexual assault survivors. And that choice will signal to the American people whether or not our elected officials believe that attempted rape disqualifies a nominee for the Supreme Court. We have been appalled at, as Sen. Feinstein said, ‘the unwillingness to take these kinds of allegations at face value, and to look at them for what they are. A real question of character, for someone who is looking at a lifetime appointment.’ But there is still time for the Senate Judiciary Committee to, quite simply, do what is right – to stop this sham process and withdraw Kavanaugh’s name from the nomination. Because really, is he the best we can do?”
