NWLC Reacts to the House Labor-HHS Subcommittee’s FY 2021 Appropriations Bill

The following is a statement by Gretchen Borchelt, Vice President for Reproductive Rights and Health at the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):

For the first time in decades, the Congressional funding bill does not contain the Hyde and Weldon amendments. By eliminating these abortion restrictions, Congress has taken a step to advance economic, racial, and gender equity in this country. Abortion restrictions create a harsh burden on people of color and those who can least afford the health care they need. It’s time to remove these barriers to care for good. Abortion must not only be legal, but also available, affordable, and within reach for all people.”
