NWLC Reacts to Supreme Court Slashing NIH Research Funding
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Trump administration’s unprecedented and dangerous rampage to slash critical NIH research on health disparities impacting marginalized communities, Black women, and LGBTQ+ people.
In response, Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center, issued the following statement:
“This reckless decision will decimate health initiatives designed to protect and support already vulnerable communities. The Trump administration’s campaign to erase and denigrate anyone who does not fit into their narrow vision of an American — those who are white, Christian, cisgender, mostly male, and rich — is relentless. By cutting off lifesaving, evidence-based, scientific research, this ruling will undoubtedly cost people their lives. The consequences will be measured in needless suffering and preventable deaths. In the face of this continued assault on our bedrock institutions, we will not be deterred. We will continue to fight for the science, the truth, and the justice our communities deserve.”
