NWLC Reacts to Senate Advancing RFK Jr. Nomination
WASHINGTON D.C. (Feb. 4) — Today, the Senate Finance Committee voted to advance Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
In response, Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center, issued the following statement:
“Instead of protecting our public health systems from an anti-vax, anti-abortion conspiracy theorist, Senate Republicans voted to advance RFK Jr.’s nomination to the full chamber. This is disgraceful and cowardly. Throughout his committee hearings, Kennedy has demonstrated a fundamental lack of understanding of how our most basic health care systems operate–including Medicaid and Medicare. He refused to change his position on dangerous conspiracy theories that have been disproved by numerous studies, as noted by both Republicans and Democrats. Most alarmingly, RFK Jr. unapologetically committed to carrying out Trump’s violent health care agenda—an agenda that threatens access to reproductive health care, undermines science-based public health policies, and puts lives at risk. The Senate must reject his nomination to protect the health, rights, and safety of people across this country.”
