NWLC Reacts to President Trump’s Executive Order on Immigration
(Washington, D.C.) Today, President Trump issued an executive order attempting to diffuse the self-induced crisis of separating families at the border by putting families in detention camps. This practice stands in stark contrast to reams of research and opinions from medical professionals that incarceration is emotionally and physically traumatizing to children.
The following is a statement by Anna Chu, Vice President of Strategy and Policy at the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):
“Jailing families is not a solution to President Trump’s zero-tolerance policy. Children do not belong in jails. Families do not belong in cages. The only acceptable solution is for the President to end this horrific policy.”
