NWLC Reacts to Confirmation of Jennifer Mascott to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Jennifer Mascott to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
In response, Alison Gill, director of nominations and democracy, issued the following statement:
“Jennifer Mascott’s confirmation is deeply troubling. Throughout her career, she has consistently prioritized partisan interests over constitutional principles, notably in defending criminal immunity for Donald Trump’s unlawful efforts to overturn the 2020 election. She also has a long track record of undermining reproductive rights and weakening legal protections for survivors of gender-based violence.
Her record and views reflect an agenda that would restrict the rights of women and girls and limit the federal government’s ability to protect them. At a time when public confidence in the courts is already eroding, we need judges who will uphold the Constitution and ensure equal justice for everyone. Based on her record, Jennifer Mascott has not shown she can be that kind of judge.”
