NWLC Calls on Senate to Pass The Equality Act

(Washington, D.C.) The following is a statement from Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center:

“The Equality Act is a vital step toward closing the gaps in our laws that leave millions of lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women and girls exposed to poverty, isolation, and violence. The societal pressures these women face are part and parcel of the misogyny all women face, worsened by the assumptions we continue to make about their identities. The Equality Act also provides important new protections against sex discrimination in public spaces, closing longstanding gaps that continue to hurt all women. The Senate has a historic opportunity to help even the playing field for LGBTQ women while strengthening the rights of all women to live, labor, and learn.”
