State asks appeals court to block telehealth access to abortion medications
āAn ultimate ruling in Louisianaās favor would force Louisianaās anti-abortion stance on the entire country, making it harder for patients to get mifepristone, even in states where abortion is protected,ā said Bridget Winkler, senior counsel for reproductive rights and health at the National Womenās Law Center.
…Louisiana and anti-abortion rights activists argue the FDAās 2023 decision was based on faulty safety data. But decades of peer-reviewed studies have found that mifepristone has a better safety rating than Tylenol, said Winkler.
