Citing Providence lawsuit, AG Bonta pursues statewide survey of hospital emergency compliance
“We support Attorney General Bonta taking action to ensure hospitals across California comply with the Emergency Services Law,” K.M. Bell, senior litigation counsel at the National Women’s Law Center and attorney for Nusslock, said in an email. “In our case, we’re seeking to hold the entire Providence hospital system accountable because we believe their policies may be harming patients throughout California. However, while our case focuses on Providence, it’s clear that this is not an isolated problem. All hospitals in California must follow the law and provide abortion care in medical emergencies.”
