Abortion: US mifepristone access blocked and unblocked as legal battle reaches Supreme Court

Katie O’Connor, an attorney and senior director for federal abortion policy at the non-profit National Women’s Law Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, said this broader ease of access was critical in the context of abortion care in the US.
“Abortion clinics have shuttered across the country. Getting care is a lot more difficult, even in states where care is protected, in large part because people are travelling to those states [for abortion services] from other states.”
Getting mifepristone through postal services also greatly benefits women living in rural and remote areas or with childcare or job responsibilities, O’Connor added.
