A Year Later, We’re Still Waiting for Justice for Sandra Bland
It’s been a year since 28-year old Sandra Bland died in a Waller County, Texas jail cell. Pulled over for a routine traffic violation and arrested for, well, who really knows…for asking too many questions, for not putting out a lawfully smoked cigarette, for having too much “attitude,” for being a black woman who dared speak her mind… What we do know is that three days later she was found hanging in her cell. Investigations are ongoing and the officer is facing perjury charges, but we have yet to see full transparency and justice for Sandra Bland.
It’s been a long week. Too many names to hold. Too many hashtags to track. Too many black lives tragically lost too soon.
We haven’t forgotten. #SayHerName #SandraBland
