The following is a statement from Gretchen Borchelt, Vice President for Reproductive Rights and Health at the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):
“Anti-abortion extremists are using the same playbook to attack access to mifepristone – an extremely safe and effective drug – as they used to overturn Roe. We see their end game: to completely destroy access to any abortion care and our ability to control our health and lives, hitting those the hardest who already face multiple and often intersecting barriers to accessing care – people with low incomes, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, young people, immigrants, people with disabilities, people who live in rural communities, and LGBTQ people. These judges are making decisions based on bogus science and their own ideological beliefs, changing people’s access to abortion day by day – this is purposely sowing confusion and keeping people unsure of their rights and ability to access the care they need. These extremists and their judge allies are a deep threat to our democracy and we must work to restore justice in every way possible.”
