Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, women of color faced an unjust and unequal economy. While the American Rescue Plan Act, passed in March 2021, provides robust relief that addresses gender, racial, and economic inequities, we cannot ignore the deep structural flaws in our economy that made the pandemic so devastating for women of color and their families.
Women deserve economic security and the opportunity to create a brighter future for ourselves and our families. We all win when the economy works for all of us. The path forward to shared prosperity requires both structural changes and significant public investments. Policy changes that are critical to ensuring the sustained economic well-being of women and their families, and the economy as a whole, are listed below.
